Highlights from the 10th Annual Symposium
 
As part of the organizing team, the NEC for the Welfare and Educational Institutions was proud to help host the 10th Annual General Symposium for NEC Chairpersons, Councillors, and General Secretaries, held at the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.
 
The symposium brought together NEC leadership, legal minds, business executives, Ministry of Labour officials and was honoured by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Honourable Mercy Dinha. The event created a vital platform for strategic dialogue on the evolving challenges and opportunities within the NEC framework.
 
Key discussions focused on:
🔹 The impact of AI on NEC operations
🔹 Leadership, ethics, and corporate governance
🔹 Retrenchment procedures and regulatory compliance
🔹 The threatened existence of NECs under Section 56 of the Labour Amendment No. 11 of 2023, and recent court rulings on NEC jurisdiction
 
 
This year’s symposium reinforced the importance of unity, innovation, and advocacy in protecting the integrity and relevance of NECs in Zimbabwe’s industrial relations ecosystem.
